Ember Resto Bar: Pizza the Way You Like It

I love pizza. Who doesn’t? From random barkada food trips, any family gatherings, to take out or delivery meals for when our parents got too lazy to cook, pizza has become a staple in our houses and in our bellies. There are plenty of pizza joints in the city, each with their own unique offerings and specialties. But one that allows you to “make your own pizza”? That does not escape me.

Ember Resto Bar is located at the Rooftop of C&L Suites Inn. You get a choice to sit inside and eat in peace and quiet or you can choose to enjoy your meal in their rooftop bar overlooking the city. For me, the best time to visit the place is around 5:00-6:00PM so you can get a wonderful view of the sunset as you enjoy your pizza and an ice-cold beer. At night, the roof deck transforms into a parade of cherry blossom lights, ideal to take your special someone on a romantic date, or even as a nice new hangout for your entire squad.

The FTD team visited Ember Resto Bar with the intention to take them up on their offer to customize our own pizza. You get a list of toppings, cheese, and sauces and you can just pick out your favorites or go all out and put everything on it. For the price of P300, you can have your very own 8” brick oven pizza creation.

We were really hungry so we decided to order three. Our first creation had a combination of white and red sauce topped with three kinds of cheese: mozzarella, parmesan, and cheddar, Italian sausages, bacon, salami, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and basil. Our second pizza which was made of white and red sauce, three cheeses, jalapenos, caramelized onions, sun dried tomatoes, olives, garlic, anchovies, Hungarian sausages, and basil. For the third, we decided to get one of their offerings on the menu, the All Meat Pizza at P250.

The pizza crust was crisp and surprisingly chewy. The mix of the two sauces, the red and the white tasted phenomenal. Placing all three cheeses was a good move. And our choice of toppings rounded off the pizza really well. If you’re having a hard time deciding what to get, I suggest you try our mixes. They do not disappoint. Our first pizza, which is my personal favorite among the three, is ideal for those who like their pizza half meaty, half veggie, but all cheesy. The second mix is great for those who want veggies to dominate the pizza and have a kick of spice. An 8” pizza might seem a bit small but three orders were more than enough for four hungry people. We even had to take some home.

We also decided to try their chicken wings which are for P160 every order. They have two flavors, the hot and the honey soy. I prefer the hot wings over the honey soy but believe me when I say that they are not for the faint-hearted. They are very generous in their chili sauce so keep those drinks and a handkerchief close by.

We were only able to try their pizza and chicken wings but they have plenty of other offerings in their menu like burgers, sandwiches, pasta, salads, and rice meals which we would love to try as well. Ember Resto Bar is still on soft opening as of writing, but they will be formally launching their restaurant this coming Saturday, August 8, 2015. Try it for yourself before the crowds start marching in. See you there!
