Dumaguete City is the capital of Negros Oriental in the Negros Island Region and it is the gateway to numerous natural wonders that are flocked by thousands of tourists every year. Among those sights include the beautiful beaches located in the neighboring towns, dolphin watching in Bais City, the Sand Bar in Manjuyod, Apo Island in the south, falls and trekking in Valencia, among others. It is also just a 5-6 hour drive to Bacolod City and Cebu City.

The campus by the sea just turned 114 years old last August and being part of the Silliman University Corps of Campus Ambassadors, I present to you a little tour of the popular and underground food scene in campus!

Starting off with the famous Bossing’s Tempura, it is said that you are not a Sillimanian if you haven’t tried the Lvl 5 tempura. With 5 levels, from 1 being the least spicy to 5 being the spiciest, there is a secret Lvl 6 tempura specially made-to-order on special request! Costing 4 pesos per stick, Bossing’s tempura has become an icon of the university that even alumni and guests keep coming back for!

With early morning classes, most students you see look like zombies walking around the campus. Not to worry, here in Silliman University, there are kiosks selling all day breakfast for us to fuel up anytime of the day. Meals are at very affordable prices (~ Php 35-60).
