Where does good food come from?

A lot of people are in a constant quest for good food. New restaurants open here and there offering a variety of meals inspired by Oriental, Mexican, Italian, Korean, Greek cooking and so on, but sometimes our taste buds remain insatiable. And sometimes, the food made available in these restos are highly commercialized. This is exactly why some people take it upon themselves to cook up their own meals rather than to eat out. On a personal note, I believe that a generously prepared home meal is always twice as good as a meal cooked in a chaotic restaurant kitchen no matter how many stars it may have. But, lucky for us foodies here in Dumaguete, there is a new place, nestled within the outskirts of the city where one can find gourmet pizzas, burritos, spaghetti, carbonara, sandwiches and a whole lot more, cooked with precision and passion in a kitchen built with love.

Merzci Pasalubong Treats: Occidental’s Best Now in the Oriental

Bacolod’s leading pasalubong center, Merzci, the flagship brand of CM & Sons’ Food Products, Inc. has finally arrived in our city and is here to stay. Merzci formally opened its first Dumaguete and Negros Oriental branch at Lee Super Plaza yesterday, August 7, 2015 at 3:00PM. The event was preceded by a motorcade at 2:00PM.

The Rollin’ Pin: A French Pastry Adventure

Our city deserves little quiet spots where friends can sit around and talk over a good meal. Located in 24 Katada Street, just a stone’s throw away from Silliman University, The Rollin’ Pin makes for a wonderful coffee and pastry shop. Born from the partnership of young chef Antoine Rollin and girlfriend, Armegyn Maglenti, this French patisserie has been running for a little more than a year now. The place is quite small with just enough room for a few people to sit around. Artworks by local artists like Hersley-Ven Casero hang from its walls. Although it can get packed during breakfast and lunch hours, the place is perfect for those needing a quiet spot for their afternoon coffee.
