Blue Pearl Meat Restaurant: Next on your Gastronomic Bucketlist

There is a new Korean restaurant in town and its gaining popularity fast. The Blue Pearl Meat Restaurant is located along Hibbard Avenue, Tugas, Piapi. It is situated right by the Korean Church. It’s easy enough to spot, especially with an enormous signage right outside the restaurant. Blue Pearl is actually the fourth branch of the Pearl Meat Shop which first opened its doors in AS Fortuna, Mandaue City. It’s two other branches, both located in Cebu, are also widely-known and well-loved by foodies both Korean and Filipino. So imagine my delight when I learned that one of my favorite Korean restaurants from Cebu was branching out to none other than Dumaguete City.

Lantaw Native Restaurant: The New Home of the Family of Gentle People

Lively Filipino music, rich and boisterous laughter and the clanging of utensils were in perfect harmony during the blessing and grand opening of Lantaw Native Restaurant Dumaguete. It seemed like one giant feast that brought together families from all over the city. And as the night progressed and the moon steadily lit the restaurant’s skyline, the crowd excited to taste the savory native delicacies unique to this new restaurant just kept getting bigger and bigger.

A wrap up of the Earthday Jam sa Dumaguete

The weather did not look too good in the early hours of the afternoon as it lead from a slow drizzle until rain came pouring down on and off into the late hours of the night on August 20, 2015. Nevertheless, the Rizal Boulevard Strip was packed with thousands of Dumaguetenos for the Earthday Jam.

The music marathon which was hosted by Alvin Anson, Midi G and Pam Nieva together with Kim Covert and Elena Bartlett kicked off late afternoon starting with performances from homegrown artists. Along with this, various booths and exhibits by the CENRO/City Dept. of Agriculture, EDC-BINHI, Foundation University Fine Arts, SUSG- ENVIROCOM, Dumaguete Medics, PhilSouth Properties & Development Corporation, Qualfon Dumaguete, NORSU-LSO, and Ang Sandigan were open for the public’s perusing.

Destination: Dumaguete City 6200

Dumaguete is the capital city and main port of Negros Oriental. Popularly known as the “City of Gentle People”, the name Dumaguete was derived from the visayan word dagit, which means “to snatch”. It was devised because of the town’s history of frequent raids by pirates. Legend has it that the apart from robbing the town, these pirates would also snatch up beautiful women from its shores. The city’s landmark, the Dumaguete Belfry was used for the purpose of warning townsfolk of incoming raiders. It was built in the 1760s and rebuilt in the 1870s and still stands to this very day to attest the horrid past this town had to face.
